How are we at week 5 already?! This has been the least labor intensive room we’ve tackled yet for the One Room Challenge, and yet it’s taken us longer than ever to make a dent in the to-do list. The laziness is strong in me lately.
If you don't already know, the One Room Challenge is a event hosted twice a year in which anyone from anywhere across the interwebs can join in on the fun of making over one room, from start to finish, in 6 weeks. The 20 featured designers post updates every Wednesday and all the guest participants update each Thursday.
I would say that I don’t want to give too much away before next week’s reveal…but, to be honest, the room doesn’t look terribly different from last week. Because the walls were already painted and the desk was already in place when we began this challenge, I think the satisfying before-and-after will really be brought home with the styling and decorating. And that, my friends, will have to wait for next week!
However I wasn’t COMPLETELY worthless this past week! Here are some update shots from the home office, soon to be cozy-as-anything library-office-room-extraordinaire…
The desk with the old hardware.
And with the new. Are these my favorite knobs in the world? No. But they only have one screw hole in the back, where as most of the pull handles I liked had two, so that ruled out a bunch of my choices. But these are just fine and I like how big and chunky they are.
And yes, the desk will look 100 times better when I clear it off and find a new home for that big ol’ printer.
And the shelving units are partially up! The jury is still out on whether I’m painting the shelves the wall color or keep them white. I was dead-set on painted bookshelves…and then painted shelves…and now? Eh, I can be convinced either way. Any thoughts, online friends? I need more decorative backbone.
Please come back next week! These have been the most boring of all ORC posts, I know. But next week will be eye candy. I promise.
